Best Tourist-Travelling places in Udupi-Mangalore coastal region

Welcome back folks,

Today I will share some of favorite tourism/travelling/trekking/hiking places in and around Udupi- Mangalore.

I am basically born and bought up in Udupi and have completed by graduation in Mangalore so I will be sharing my experience with you all.

1) Malpe Beach

Malpe is more than just a regular beach. It is always crowded with people from all over Karnataka and India yet there is a breath of fresh air.

There will be a lot of fun activities going like paragliding, beach-motor ride, camel-ride, kite flying competition and many more.

One of most famous and yet a controversial place recently in Malpe is the St. Mary's Island.

There have been many deaths due to negligence of tourists and less safety measures from the island staffs due to which visits to island were banned for a few months. Later after increasing the security the ban was lifted. There is a boat ride to the island and visit is highly recommended.

And the food, God, the variety of food you find here is something else.

Let's begin with the sea food. Malpe is known is known for the varieties of fish and other sea food. Be that salmon, sardine, tuna,  prawnce, crab and many more. Below are some of the mouthwatering images.

There is a also a sea walk which measures around 450 meters where many people take a stroll in the evenings for fresh air and the beautiful sunset view.

There is also a park at the entrance for children to play. A great place to spend the evenings with our loved ones.

Now lets speak about the food, God, the variety of food you find here is something else.

Let's begin with the sea food. Malpe is known is known for the varieties of fish and other sea food. Be that salmon, sardine, tuna,  prawnce, crab and many more. Below are some of the mouthwatering images.

These are some of the images from the popular hotels and restaurants near Malpe beach like Malpe Lunch Home, Thimappa's hotel, Hotel Mahalaxmi, FnC, Gazebo and many others.

There are many tasty Veg dishes also for all my vegetarian friends.

After working all week this place is definitely a stress reliever in the weekends.

2) Kavaledurga

The 9th-century Kavualedurga Fort is located 18 kms from Thirthahalli, Shimoga. It served as the Keladi kingdom's fourth and final capital.

The fort was constructed in the ninth century, and Cheluvarangappa restored it in the fourteenth. The Nayakas of Keladi, who were the feudatories under the Vijayanagara monarchs and eventually became independent after the Vijayanagara Empire fell, had a stronghold at Kavaledurga, also known as Bhuvanagiri.

I visited this beautiful place in July 2017 and God what a breathtaking place this is.

There are 7 rounds or ghats before we reach the top which will take you at least an hour.

There are ancient lakes, ancient open kitchens which we call Agrahara.

Once you finish the 3rd leap you need to walk through an inclined forest root which looks like this.

This is Kavaledurga in Monsoon

When you reach the final level you will see a Lord Shiva Temple

Doesn't this make you go AWWWWWWW???

Definitely a place to visit at least once in your lifetime.
